The book that started it all

If I had to name one book that in the last decade has had a huge impact on my life, it would be Nick Kelsh's How to Photograph Your Baby, which is sort of depressing given that my degree is in English Literature. But it's true. This book combined with the arrival of my son and the purchase of my first DSLR camera motivated me to learn about photography. As Kelsh writes on the first page, "This book is for people who want to create stunning photographs of the babies they love." It wasn't filled with professional jargon that only professionals could understand, it was written for people just like me - sleep-deprived first-time parents hoping to snap great photos of their kids.

And now, I'm opening up my own photography business. My focus will, of course, be on babies and kids, with families thrown into the mix whenever mom and dad want to jump into the picture.
